Give the People What They Want
I don't talk much these days about what passes for politics in America, there’s a few notable exceptions, but mostly no one asks and I don't prod. Which is fine and dandy really, though it’s a little disconcerting if I consider how much time I wasted, a life really when looking back darkly. I always considered politics important, it had its moments, but it's a broken system. At this point, the only intelligent thing to do if you're going to partake in the process is grab as much money as you can.
That said, I have a couple wagers Joe Biden will not be the Democratic nominee. I would think, but maybe it's simply bad thinking, the Dem political class – money, electeds, and the various “professionals” – would eventually figure Old Joe's not reelectable. There's many reasons for this, but right at the top is the ne'er-do-well, crack addict, hooker obsessed, gun-toting son.
Earlier in the year, I pointed out how the Dems were acting like they won the midterms. Old Joe amusingly chastised the Reps on their leadership fight, seemingly oblivious that a Rep Congress guaranteed his own personal inquisition, a tortuous digging into the affairs of Biden Family Inc.. They have not disappointed.
In one of the great performances of television history, the 37th president immortally said, “People have gotta know whether or not their president's a crook.” My fellow Americans, Joe Biden's a crook. Most damning, his ward heeler, DC scale petty corruption is tied directly to the bloody, criminally unnecessary war in Ukraine and the growing China warmongering.
Unfortunately for the Dems, there's two great obstacles in recognizing their dilemma. First, the corruption in DC is so long ingrained, it’s simply accepted as the way things are done. In a recent article indicting Hunter, The Wall Street Journal, advocate for all who most benefit from the way things are, defended this DC mindset,
“Getting paid by foreigners isn’t a crime, even if one service they are seeking is proximity to power. In that regard, Hunter Biden’s activity mirrored that of other presidential relatives over the years. Based on what the Justice Department has made public, Hunter Biden faces legal trouble for how he failed to account for his business activity, not that he undertook it.”
Hunter profitably using dad’s position isn’t wrong as long it was reported. Phew, the Journal’s sounding like a bunch of liberals.
Secondly, the great Trump Derangement Syndrome is still rampant beneath all established politics, a belief however atrocious someone’s activity, at least they’re not Trump. They seemingly will never understand, refuse to actually, that they created Trump.
Anyway Dems, the horse you're backing is lame. Please put him to pasture in Delaware, I need to win some money. If I’d add a real political opinion to all the above, I agree then and now with Dick Goodwin, former speechwriter for JFK, LBJ, and RFK, who in a fine 1992 Los Angeles speech on the decline of democracy in America titled “A Call for a New America” concluded, “The Democratic party’s been around for 200 years, that’s a pretty good run, long enough, long enough.”
